| Catherine is a native of Foster City and the Bay Area. She attended the University of San Francisco, then went on to Stanford and San Francisco State for a masters degree in French and Japanese respectively. Her interest in photography began in 1995, while studying in Paris at the Sorbonne. “I wanted to preserve the memory of my experience living in France, so I took as many pictures as possible during my year abroad. As a scholar of foreign languages, I love to travel overseas, so of course, travel photography constitutes a large portion of my work. When shooting travel photography, I try to capture the essence of the locale—the people, the colors, the food, the daily lifestyles, and, of course, the famous monuments. Of all the places I’ve visited, Paris remains my favorite to photograph. My upcoming series, entitled ‘Paris: Ville Touriste, Ville Insolite’ (Paris: Hidden Gems in a Tourist City) will showcase both the world famous and the hidden sides of the city.” Catherine’s photographs have won several awards at the San Mateo County Faire and her photographs are featured in the book Images of America: Foster City (Arcadia Publishing, 2005). She is the official photographer for the Foster City Historical Society and has photographed for Peninsula Musical Arts Association (PMAA)in addition to performing with the group. She is an instructor of French at UC Davis where she is completing a doctorate in French Literature. |
